Museums of the Netherlands

The Netherlands is a country where painting once stopped being a luxury for the chosen few and became the business of ordinary people. Pictures were bought by bakers and sailors, used to pay for lodging, hung in kitchens. That is why so many masterpieces survive here — and why Dutch museums are arranged differently from most European ones.

Museum tours are dry and comfortable in any weather. The perfect choice when it is raining and windy outside, but the wish to learn something new has not gone anywhere.
